ARCHITECTURAL SPIES is a Bulgarian SME from the R&D sector. It was founded in 2003 by the Bulgarian architect Nadya Stamatova and the American architect Scott Skipworth. The architectural design studio of ARCHITECTURAL SPIES is registered in the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria (a member of ACE). The competences of the company are: architecture for the real and virtual worlds; BIM; Digital Twins; GIS; IoT; XR (Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and Virtual Reality); aerial (drone) photography and video; 2D/3D data acquisition; orthophoto; thermal scanning; volumetrization of thermal scans; building performance analysis; energy-effective projects; digital reconstruction of cultural heritage; virtual museums; games; 3D printing. The company is a holder of a grant of The Japan Foundation for the book Architectural Spies: Japan (2005) and the award of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria at the Architectural Salon Varna 2006 for the reconstruction of the main hall of the Central Post Office in Varna. ARCHITECTURAL SPIES has participated in and finalized the project EINSTEIN - Effective Integration of Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage Systems in Existing Buildings (2012-2015) and tested the platform Connect and Construct (2013-2014), and currently working on the project BIM-SPEED - Harmonised Building Information Speedway for Energy-Efficient Renovation (2018-2022) leading the task VR/AR for BIM. So far, the studio of ARCHITECTURAL SPIES has trained young specialists and students from Bulgaria, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Romania, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, and Australia.
